The Marblehead Historical Commission’s Gift Shop, located at historic Abbot Hall, takes a seasonal break each year. It closes in late December and remains closed until Memorial Day. But don’t worry—during the off-season, you can still find a selection of their unique items. They will be available for purchase right here at Marblehead Antiques.
We’re proud to support the Historical Commission and their efforts to preserve and celebrate Marblehead’s rich history. That’s why we’ve partnered with them to offer some of their most popular gift shop items while their doors are closed for the winter and early spring. From Marblehead-themed books and mugs to local artwork and handcrafted pieces, you’ll find a variety of treasures that make perfect gifts or keepsakes.
We are not taking a fee or commission on these sales. Every dollar from your purchase goes directly to the Historical Commission. We’re simply offering our space as a way to keep their shop accessible to the community year-round.
So, if you’re looking for something special with an historical Marblehead connection, stop by our shop. We’re happy to help you find it—and to help support the preservation of our town’s incredible history.
The gift shop:
Located on the first floor of Abbot Hall, the Marblehead Historical Commission’s Gift Shop offers a diverse selection of Marblehead-themed items, including postcards, note cards, calendars, mugs, glasses, and a wide array of fiction and non-fiction books about the town and its residents. Visitors can also find unique handcrafted braided rope work and kits by local artisan Jim Keating.
In addition to merchandise, the shop features museum-quality displays of Marblehead Pottery and a collection of duck decoys, many crafted by renowned decoy-maker Gerald Smith. Marblehead Pottery, established in 1904 by Dr. Herbert J. Hall as a therapeutic endeavor, is celebrated for its simple forms and distinctive matte glazes, making it a sought-after collectible worldwide.
